Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
- Continuously assess and monitor patient conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and neurological status
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other treatments as ordered
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to develop and adjust individualized care plans
- Support and educate patients and families, offering clear communication and emotional reassurance during challenging times
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Previous PICU or pediatric critical care experience strongly preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work flexible per diem shifts and adapt to a fast-paced environment
Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of pediatric anatomy, physiology, and critical care conditions
- Proficiency in ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and continuous renal replacement therapy
- Skilled in pediatric IV insertion, medication administration, and central line management
- Excellent communication and family-centered care approach
- Ability to prioritize care and remain calm in high-acuity situations
- Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation standards
