Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
  • Continuously assess and monitor patient conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and neurological status
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other treatments as ordered
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to develop and adjust individualized care plans
  • Support and educate patients and families, offering clear communication and emotional reassurance during challenging times
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Previous PICU or pediatric critical care experience strongly preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work flexible per diem shifts and adapt to a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of pediatric anatomy, physiology, and critical care conditions
  • Proficiency in ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and continuous renal replacement therapy
  • Skilled in pediatric IV insertion, medication administration, and central line management
  • Excellent communication and family-centered care approach
  • Ability to prioritize care and remain calm in high-acuity situations
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation standards
