Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized respiratory care plans
• Implement, evaluate, and adjust therapy plans to meet each patient's evolving needs
• Conduct diagnostic tests including ABGs, PFTs, EKGs, and assist with bronchoscopy and pulse oximetry
• Monitor patient responses and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes
• Transport patients safely within the hospital and between facilities as needed
• Provide on-call coverage to support round-the-clock patient care

Qualifications

• Active CRT or RRT credential through the NBRC
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (AHA)
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (CoARC, JRCRTE, or CAAHEP)
• At least 2 years of respiratory therapy experience, preferably in acute care
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records
• Comfort and experience caring for both adult and newborn patients
• Valid driver's license and willingness to work a 60-mile radius assignment

Education

• Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Education Program (CoARC, JRCRTE, or CAAHEP)

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and care planning for a variety of respiratory conditions
• Diagnostic testing skills: ABG, PFT, EKG, bronchoscopy assistance, and pulse oximetry
• Proficiency in EPIC EMR for accurate documentation
• Ability to work independently as the only RT on shift
• Strong communication skills for patient transport and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Knowledge of respiratory therapy for adults and newborns
