Candidate Pay Rate: $49 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and prepare pediatric patients for surgery, ensuring they are physically and emotionally ready for their procedures
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Administer preoperative medications and IVs as ordered, while closely monitoring vital signs and patient responses
- Educate patients and their families about the surgical process, answering questions and providing reassuring support
- Advocate for patient safety by verifying surgical consent, identifying potential risks, and maintaining a sterile environment
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Washington state or a compact state
- Current BLS certification required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
- Previous experience in pre-operative or perioperative nursing, especially with pediatric patients, is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with children and their families
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, compassionate care environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of pediatric anatomy, physiology, and common surgical procedures
- Skill in IV insertion and medication administration for children
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Understanding of surgical safety protocols and infection control
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
