Candidate Pay Rate: $49 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assess and prepare pediatric patients for surgery, ensuring they are physically and emotionally ready for their procedures
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Administer preoperative medications and IVs as ordered, while closely monitoring vital signs and patient responses
  • Educate patients and their families about the surgical process, answering questions and providing reassuring support
  • Advocate for patient safety by verifying surgical consent, identifying potential risks, and maintaining a sterile environment
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in Washington state or a compact state
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
  • Previous experience in pre-operative or perioperative nursing, especially with pediatric patients, is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with children and their families
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, compassionate care environment

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of pediatric anatomy, physiology, and common surgical procedures
  • Skill in IV insertion and medication administration for children
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
  • Understanding of surgical safety protocols and infection control
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
