Roles & Responsibilities

• Admit, discharge, and transfer patients across MedSurg and ER settings
• Titrate critical medications including insulin, amiodarone, cardizem, and levophed
• Start IVs and manage PICC lines and ports with confidence
• Respond swiftly to codes including cardiac, stroke, and sepsis emergencies
• Provide trauma care and stabilize patients for higher-level transfer when needed
• Read and interpret your own cardiac strips and perform EKGs
• Float between the 9-bed MedSurg unit and 3-bay ER to support patient needs
• Collaborate directly with hospitalists in a close-knit, independent environment

Qualifications

• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• Minimum one year of ER experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable working independently with minimal staffing support
• Experience with Meditech EMR, Hamilton T1 ventilator, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen preferred
• Ability to read cardiac strips and complete EKGs independently

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical thinking and rapid decision-making abilities
• Excellent communication skills for direct collaboration with providers
• Adaptability to float between MedSurg and ER as census demands
• Familiarity with EMTALA regulations and flight transport coordination
• Comfort managing a mixed patient population from rehab to trauma
