Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality direct patient care on a 42-bed Med Surg unit, managing medical, surgical and ortho patients
• Administer medications and perform medication safety checks, including titration of heparin when indicated
• Monitor patients using telemetry and respond to changes in condition promptly
• Collaborate with respiratory therapists and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Document accurately and timely in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Support and mentor nursing assistants and patient care techs as part of unit workflow
• Float to PCU or Burn units as assigned to meet patient care needs
• Participate in unit orientation and demonstrate competency on required skills and pass the orientation exam

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required to submit)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (per job posting)
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used to confirm radius eligibility)
• Willingness to take a Pass/Fail orientation skills exam and achieve a 90% score
• Able to comply with facility policies (e.g., no artificial nails) and unit dress code (navy blue scrubs)
• Able to float to PCU or Burn as needed and work weekends/holidays when scheduled
• Not currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI or Dignity) per radius rules

Education

• BLS certification required
• BSN not required (posting indicates BSN Required: No)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med-Surg nursing skills with experience in inpatient acute care
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Medication administration including experience with heparin titration
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Teamwork and effective communication with RTs, charge nurses and interdisciplinary staff
• Ability to manage 1:5-6 patient ratios and prioritize workload under typical unit demands
