Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Skilled Nursing Facility
Location: Skowhegan, ME
Start Date: 08-31-2026
Contract Type: Perm
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with weekend rotation
Hours per Week: 40
Bill Rate: $26-$30/hour
Benefits
- Salary range: $26-$30/hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate physical therapy services to residents in our 74-bed skilled nursing facility
- Implement individualized treatment plans under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises and activities to improve mobility and functional independence
- Document patient progress accurately and adjust treatments in collaboration with the therapy team
- Educate residents and their families on home exercise programs and safety strategies
- Work collaboratively with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
Qualifications
- Active Physical Therapist Assistant license in the state of Maine (or eligibility to obtain)
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings preferred but new graduates are welcome to apply
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekend rotation
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of physical therapy techniques, modalities, and rehabilitation principles
- Ability to document care accurately and in a timely manner
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
- Teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- Adaptability to changing patient needs and priorities
