Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform nerve conduction studies (NCS) and autonomic studies to assist in diagnosing peripheral and autonomic nervous system disorders
  • Collaborate closely with physicians in both outpatient and inpatient settings to ensure accurate results
  • Prepare patients and equipment for EMG/EEG procedures, explaining the process and ensuring comfort
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology to support diagnostic testing
  • Document and chart results accurately using EPIC, ensuring records are complete and accessible
  • Adhere to facility policies, including patient safety and infection control standards

Qualifications

  • Current BLS certification (AHA)
  • Active Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T) certification via AAET
  • Registry by American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM) or American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience as an EMG or EEG technologist
  • Willingness to comply with facility fingernail policy (no artificial nails in patient care areas)

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology
  • Proficiency in nerve conduction studies (NCS)
  • Experience with autonomic studies
  • Familiarity with electromyography (EMG) and electroencephalography (EEG)
  • Comfortable using EPIC charting system
  • Ability to work effectively in both outpatient and inpatient settings
