Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - Skilled Nursing Facility
Location: Scarborough, ME
Start Date: 08-31-2026
Contract Type: Perm
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with weekend rotation
Hours per Week: 40
Bill Rate: $27.25 - $30/hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate occupational therapy services to residents in our skilled nursing facility, helping them achieve their highest level of independence.
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist, adapting activities to meet each resident's unique needs.
- Document resident progress accurately and maintain up-to-date records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, physical therapists, and speech therapists to ensure holistic care.
- Educate residents and their families on therapeutic techniques and home exercise programs for continued success beyond our facility.
Qualifications
- Active certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
- Current Maine state licensure or eligibility to obtain upon hire.
- Previous experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care is a plus.
- CPR certification (BLS) required.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for working with older adults.
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of occupational therapy principles, modalities, and adaptive equipment.
- Proficiency in documenting care in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and creativity in adapting activities for residents with varying abilities.
