Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, responding quickly to any changes or emergencies
• Assist healthcare providers during deliveries, including C-sections, and ensure a safe environment
• Educate new parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create individualized birth plans
• Document patient care accurately and uphold the highest standards of safety and quality

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or a compact state
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• NRP and ACLS certifications preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery experience preferred
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of labor, delivery, and postpartum care practices
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring and interpretation of fetal heart tones
• Excellent patient education and advocacy skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong adaptability to handle unpredictable situations with confidence
• Time management and prioritization skills in a dynamic unit
