Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and prepare pediatric patients for surgical procedures in a compassionate, child-friendly way
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth pre-operative workflows
• Educate patients and families about the pre-op process to ease anxiety and build trust
• Monitor vital signs and ensure patient safety before surgery
• Maintain accurate, thorough documentation for every patient
• Advocate for the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington or compact state
• BLS certification required; PALS certification preferred
• Experience in pre-operative or peri-operative nursing; pediatric experience a plus
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach with children and families

Knowledge & Skills

• Pre-operative nursing assessments and patient preparation
• Pediatric nursing principles and age-specific care
• Medication administration and IV therapy
• Clear communication with pediatric patients, families, and the surgical team
• Electronic health record (EHR) documentation
• Flexibility and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
