Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care during overnight shifts
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
• Monitor and document vital signs, intake/output, and patient condition changes
• Support safe transfers and proper use of assistive devices
• Communicate clearly with the nursing team and participate in shift handoffs
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
• Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients and families during the night

Qualifications

• Valid CNA certification (required) — must meet state facility requirements
• Current BLS/CPR certification (preferred or required per facility policy)
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility requirements
• Comfortable working overnight shifts and handling the responsibilities of per diem work
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with the care team
• Previous experience in long-term care, acute care, or per diem roles is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in activities of daily living (ADL) support and safe patient handling
• Familiarity with basic charting and electronic health records (EHR)
• Knowledge of infection prevention and standard precautions
• Ability to observe, document, and escalate clinical changes promptly
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
• Time management and ability to prioritize during busy overnight shifts
