Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate the respiratory status of patients to determine appropriate care.
• Administer respiratory treatments such as oxygen therapy, nebulizers, and ventilator support.
• Collaborate with physicians and nurses to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and home care techniques.
• Document patient responses, progress, and equipment maintenance accurately.
• Respond quickly to emergency respiratory situations and code blues.

Qualifications

• Current Virginia state license as a Respiratory Therapist
• Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• At least 1 year of experience in an acute care setting preferred
• Ability to work flexible per diem shifts and adapt to changing schedules

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
• Proficiency with respiratory therapy equipment and electronic health records
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Capability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations
