Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and treat patients with respiratory conditions
• Administer oxygen, aerosol medications, and mechanical ventilation
• Perform diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases and pulmonary function tests
• Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff on patient care plans
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care and equipment
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure equipment is clean and functional
• Respond promptly to emergency calls for respiratory distress

Qualifications

• Active Iowa Respiratory Therapist license or compact privilege
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Strong clinical skills and ability to work 12-hour night shifts
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Willingness to complete health screenings and competency testing

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of respiratory therapy equipment and technologies
• Sharp patient assessment and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
• Clear communication with patients, families, and staff
• Comfort with electronic health records and documentation
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
