Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients' respiratory status to develop individualized care plans
• Administer oxygen, aerosol medications, and other respiratory therapies with precision and compassion
• Manage mechanical ventilators and adjust settings to meet each patient's needs
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the care team to optimize treatment outcomes
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment, and home care strategies
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately while maintaining a calm, reassuring presence

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in Iowa or eligibility to obtain one before start
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program
• Prior clinical experience in acute or critical care is a plus but new grads are welcome to apply

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of respiratory therapy equipment, including ventilators and monitoring devices
• Ability to stay focused and effective in fast-paced or high-pressure situations
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with multiple departments
• Commitment to patient safety, infection control, and evidence-based practice
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays as part of the rotating schedule
