Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Perform thorough pre-operative assessments for pediatric patients to promote safe surgical care
Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiology, and perioperative teams to ensure smooth patient flow
Provide family-centered education and emotional support to caregivers and children
Prepare patients and equipment for procedures, following infection control and safety protocols
Document assessments, interventions, and patient teaching clearly and accurately in the medical record
Participate in orientation and unit-based training to maintain high standards of pediatric pre-op care

Qualifications

Current, active RN license (ability to practice in Massachusetts preferred)
Experience in pre-operative care and working with pediatric populations
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, pediatric certifications (PALS) preferred
Comfortable with pediatric assessment, family education, and perioperative workflows
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication
Pre-operative evaluation and preparation
Familiarity with perioperative safety and infection prevention
Accurate clinical documentation and charting
Team collaboration and care coordination in a surgical setting
