Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough pre-operative assessments and prepare patients for surgery with compassion and precision
• Review patient medical histories, verify consent, and address any concerns to ensure readiness for procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the care team to coordinate seamless surgical preparations
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families before surgery
• Maintain a safe, sterile, and organized pre-op environment while adhering to hospital protocols
• Document patient information accurately and advocate for patient safety throughout the perioperative process

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Ohio (or compact state, as applicable)
• BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS preferred
• Previous experience in pre-op, perioperative, or surgical nursing is a plus
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills
• Ability to work flexible per diem shifts as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of pre-operative nursing procedures and patient assessment
• Familiarity with surgical consent processes and patient education
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and the surgical team
