Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients with neurological conditions in a stepdown unit
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as ordered
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Educate patients and families on neurological conditions, care plans, and discharge instructions
• Recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient status, escalating as needed
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and uphold all safety and compliance standards

Qualifications

• Current and unencumbered Louisiana RN license
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association)
• ACLS certification preferred
• Previous stepdown, ICU, or neuro nursing experience preferred
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of neurological assessments and interventions
• Skilled in medication administration, including IV drips and continuous infusions
• Ability to monitor telemetry and recognize cardiac and neurological changes
• Excellent communication skills for patient and family education
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team
