Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional nursing care to mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum phases
• Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, intervening quickly and confidently when needed
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and the care team to ensure safe deliveries
• Educate and empower new parents with feeding, newborn care, and recovery guidance
• Maintain accurate patient records and uphold the highest standards of safety and comfort
• Bring calm, reassurance, and expertise to every birth experience

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia or a compact state
• Current BLS certification
• NRP certification preferred
• Prior L&D experience is a plus, but a passion for maternal-child nursing is essential
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of labor and delivery nursing practices and protocols
• Proficiency with fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Excellent patient education and communication skills
• Ability to stay composed and decisive in high-pressure situations
• Team collaboration and adaptability in a fast-paced maternity unit
