Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide engaging clinical education and training to long-term care staff across Sitka and Wrangell.
- Partner with clinical leaders to design, implement, and standardize competency programs and curricula.
- Develop and deliver adult-learning-based training that improves patient care and supports staff development.
- Support effective preceptorships and coordinate student clinical experiences with UAA and UAS.
- Evaluate and document clinical competencies, ensuring compliance with policy and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate on consortium-wide clinical education projects and serve as a liaison for other training opportunities.
- Use evidence-based research to refine professional development activities and improve patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited school required
- Current, full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must apply for Alaska license before start date)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
- BLS Instructor certification preferred (or must be obtained within 1 year of hire)
- Clinical Competency assessment required within 3 months of hire and recurring every 3 years
- Minimum 5 years professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
- 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be replaced by supervisory experience)
- Supervisory experience preferred
Education
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) — accredited nursing program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of professional nursing principles, diagnosis, processes, and LTC patient care
- Specialized expertise in adult and geriatric patient problems and conditions
- Curriculum development, competency assessment, and adult learning principles
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based training programs
- Familiarity with TEAMS, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
- Policy compliance, program standardization, and quality improvement focus
- Comfortable with travel by jet, small aircraft, and ferry (~30% travel)
