Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality outpatient hematology and oncology care during scheduled clinic days
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and create individualized treatment plans
• Participate actively in tumor board discussions to guide multidisciplinary care
• Collaborate with RNs, medical assistants, social worker, dietitian, and nurse navigator to coordinate care
• Document clinical encounters and orders accurately in Cerner
• Manage infusion center patients and onsite CBC monitoring as appropriate
• Cover clinic call responsibilities when required to ensure continuity of care
• Support the practice during a recruitment gap and help maintain clinic continuity

Qualifications

• MD or DO with valid and unrestricted medical license in Michigan (or eligible to obtain)
• Board certified or board eligible in Hematology and Medical Oncology
• Active DEA registration or ability to obtain
• Proven experience in outpatient hematology and oncology practice
• Comfortable participating in tumor board and multidisciplinary case reviews
• Clinical proficiency with Cerner or comparable EMR systems
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with support staff

Education

• MD or DO degree
• Board certified/board eligible in Hematology & Medical Oncology

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical expertise in hematology outpatient care
• Clinical expertise in oncology outpatient care
• Experience managing infusion patients and outpatient chemotherapy flows
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical record workflows
• Ability to manage 15–20 outpatient visits per day in a busy clinic
• Skilled in multidisciplinary collaboration and care coordination
• Comfort with clinic call responsibilities and timely clinical decision-making
