Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during examinations, adjustments, and other procedures by preparing instruments and maintaining a sterile field
• Take and mount dental radiographs (X-rays), impressions, and intraoral scans for accurate treatment planning
• Prepare and guide patients through their orthodontic treatment, discussing appliance care and oral hygiene instructions
• Sterilize and maintain dental equipment, ensuring all infection control protocols are followed
• Manage patient flow, update dental records, and coordinate with the front office for seamless scheduling
• Support the orthodontic team with laboratory duties such as pouring models and fabricating retainers

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited dental assisting program (or equivalent experience)
• Current radiography/X-ray certification required
• Orthodontic assisting experience strongly preferred
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR
• Ability to communicate warmly and clearly with patients of all ages
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of dental anatomy, terminology, and orthodontic instruments
• Proficiency with dental practice management software and digital imaging systems
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a busy practice
• Strong infection control practices and sterilization techniques
• Compassionate and patient-focused approach, with great interpersonal skills
