Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist orthodontists during examinations and procedures, ensuring patients feel comfortable and informed
• Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments to maintain a safe, hygienic environment
• Take and develop dental X-rays and impressions as directed by the orthodontist
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and orthodontic care, including braces and aligner maintenance
• Document patient treatment plans and update dental records accurately
• Provide chairside assistance and anticipate the needs of the care team

Qualifications

• Certified or registered Dental Assistant in Maryland (or ability to obtain certification)
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• X-ray certification and experience with dental radiography
• Previous orthodontic assisting experience is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-focused approach

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control protocols
• Familiarity with dental software and patient management systems (Denticon experience a plus)
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
• Compassionate and patient-friendly communication
