Roles & Responsibilities

Collect and document patient information accurately into the medical record
Prepare patients for exams and assist with routine procedures and minor office surgeries
Perform specimen collection and Point of Care Testing (POCT) following protocol
Provide immunizations and injections as ordered by the provider
Take age-appropriate vital signs and observe patient behavior, reporting changes when appropriate
Operate EKG, cardiac monitor, and manual defibrillator and assist with radiology exams when competent
Assist providers and clinic nurses to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care
Set up equipment and supplies for exams and transport patients as needed

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR EMT III required
Current Alaska certification OR AK Paramedic Certification OR Nursing Degree accepted in lieu of above
Experience working in a healthcare setting preferred
Able to communicate effectively with patients and multidisciplinary team members

Education

High School Diploma or GED required; CMA or EMT III preferred; Nursing degree may substitute

Knowledge & Skills

Proficiency with EMR systems and accurate patient data entry
Familiarity with medical terminology and clinic procedures
Skill operating common clinical equipment such as BP cuff, pulse oximeter, and EKG machine
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Customer service and clear communication skills
Ability to recognize and respond appropriately in emergency situations
