Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare pediatric patients for surgery by assessing their health status and medical history
• Start IVs, administer medications, and ensure patients are ready for the operating room
• Educate families and patients on pre-operative procedures and what to expect
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to ensure seamless patient care
• Maintain a calm and reassuring environment for children and their families

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
• BLS certification required; PALS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of pre-operative or perioperative nursing experience
• Comfortable working with pediatric patients of all ages
• Excellent communication and patient advocacy skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of pre-operative nursing protocols and sterile technique
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Compassionate bedside manner with children and families
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Team-oriented mindset with a focus on patient safety
