Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert neonatal nursing care in a Level III NICU, including assessment and direct care of critically ill newborns
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support for neonatal patients
• Perform central line care and maintenance following strict infection prevention protocols
• Float to Mother-Baby and L&D units as needed to support newborn transition and well-baby care
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in MEDITECH
• Collaborate with neonatology, OB/GYN and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate family-centered care
• Participate in neonatal transport processes and ensure safe patient handoffs
• Complete required orientation competencies and maintain certifications

Qualifications

• Current RN license (eligible to practice in Nebraska)
• Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Demonstrated experience with ventilator management and central line care
• Comfortable working independently with strong critical thinking and multitasking skills
• Driver's license required at submittal; candidates must be outside a 50-mile radius from CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities and not currently employed (FT/PT/PRN) by CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neonatal assessment and stabilization skills
• Proficiency with ventilator settings, alarms, and troubleshooting
• Central line maintenance and infection prevention best practices
• Familiarity with MEDITECH charting system
• Knowledge of AWHONN and NANN guidelines for newborn and maternal care
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and communicate clearly with families and clinical teams
• Experience with neonatal transport processes and safety procedures
