Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality Med/Surg nursing care to adult patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications, treatments and IV therapy safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Monitor patient progress, recognize changes in condition and escalate appropriately
• Document care in the electronic medical record in a timely and accurate manner
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Clinical experience caring for Med/Surg patients preferred (new grads with strong clinical training encouraged to apply)
• Ability to pass required health screenings and background checks
• Excellent communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to patient-centered care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing fundamentals and procedures
• Medication administration and safe IV/infusion management
• Proficient patient assessment and documentation skills
• Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and remain calm in urgent situations
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family teaching
