Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and support the ED nursing team: supervise staff, manage assignments, and foster a positive work environment
• Drive patient flow and operational efficiency across the main ED, fast track, and triage areas
• Oversee triage processes and ensure timely, evidence-based patient prioritization
• Coordinate care for STEMI and stroke receiving patients, partnering closely with physicians and mid-levels
• Collaborate with RT for ventilator/Cpap/BiPAP/high-flow troubleshooting and escalations
• Ensure compliance with required certifications and maintain high standards of clinical practice
• Serve as a charge/house supervisor resource when needed and support unit-level decision making
• Support unit education, orientation, and ongoing competency development

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Kansas (or eligible to obtain prior to start)
• Minimum 4 years of nursing experience with prior ED leadership experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proven experience managing fast-track operations and triage areas
• Comfortable with EPIC charting and clinical documentation
• Strong communication and team leadership skills; experience interacting with charge nurses and house supervisors

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN preferred (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Nursing and ED leadership best practices
• Triage assessment and rapid patient prioritization
• STEMI and stroke receiving protocols
• EPIC electronic health record proficiency
• Familiarity with respiratory troubleshooting (vent/Cpap/BiPAP/high flow)
• Phlebotomy performed by RNs and hands-on acute care skills
• Ability to manage 1:4-5 nurse:patient ratios based on acuity
