Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and packaging of surgical instruments and equipment
• Ensure all instruments are thoroughly cleaned and free of debris prior to sterilization
• Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment, validating cleaning processes
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization procedures, biological monitoring, and quality assurance
• Communicate effectively with providers and staff to resolve instrument shortages and offer alternatives
• Verify equipment functions properly and coordinate maintenance or replacement as needed
• Assist in training and certifying team members on sterilization processes
• Handle supply ordering, stocking, and inventory management as needed

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in sterile processing required
• Certified in Sterile Processing and/or Technology through CBSPD or HPSA
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• High school diploma or GED
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must live at least 50 miles from Juneau facility (agency-coordinated travel)

• High school diploma or GED

• Knowledge of infection control practices
• Understanding of surgical instrumentation and care/cleaning
• Familiarity with sterile techniques
• Inventory management skills
• Strong oral and written communication
• Task and detail oriented
• Self-motivated and ownership of projects
• Advanced hand-eye coordination and organizational skills
• Computer proficiency
