Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize mechanical ventilation for adult and geriatric patients, including initiating and adjusting settings on GE and Hamilton ventilators
• Provide advanced airway management and tracheostomy care with attention to safety and patient comfort
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and apply findings to improve respiratory care plans
• Administer respiratory medications and set up aerosol therapies, nebulizers, and inhaled delivery systems
• Troubleshoot high pressure alarms and lead weaning from mechanical ventilation when clinically appropriate
• Perform suctioning, pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, and support extubation procedures
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across med/surg floors, PCU, ED, and critical care to deliver coordinated patient care
• Float between campuses as needed to support staffing and patient needs

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) considered
• Ohio state respiratory license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications preferred
• High school diploma and college diploma or transcripts required
• Minimum ~2 years of relevant respiratory/critical care experience
• Comfort with adult critical care and emergency department settings
• Experience with GE ventilators; Hamilton ventilator experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred but not required

Education

• High school diploma required
• College diploma and/or official transcripts required
• RRT certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management expertise (BiPAP, CPAP, invasive mechanical ventilation)
• Hands-on experience with GE ventilators; Hamilton preferred
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and various oxygen delivery systems
• Nebulizer setups (handheld, T-piece, trach collar) and aerosol therapies
• Medication delivery systems and administration (MDI, nebulized meds)
• Interpretation of ABGs and application to clinical decision-making
• Airway management: suctioning, oral/nasal airways, trach care, extubation support
• Troubleshooting high pressure alarms and conducting ventilator weans
• Pulmonary hygiene techniques and sputum specimen collection
