Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down Unit, monitoring patients closely and responding quickly to changes
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans to support recovery and transition
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following protocols and documenting thoroughly
• Educate patients and families about care plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up needs in a compassionate manner
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and team performance

Qualifications

• Active RN license for Louisiana or compact RN privilege if applicable
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or required per unit policy
• Prior acute care nursing experience, with step-down or telemetry experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex patients and prioritize care in a fast-paced setting
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• IV therapy and complex medication administration
• Cardiac monitoring and recognition of acute changes
• Clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and documentation
• Time management and the ability to prioritize competing demands
