Location: Spokane, WA

Start Date: 05-08-2026

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Schedule varies; 4-hour pre-op shifts (exact days and start/end times to be determined by facility). Orientation required.

Candidate Pay Rate: $49 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Perform thorough pre-operative assessments and prepare pediatric patients for surgery
Provide clear, compassionate education and support to patients and families
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to coordinate care
Monitor and document vital signs and patient status according to facility protocols
Ensure equipment, supplies, and the pre-op environment are safe and ready
Participate actively in orientation and unit training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse license in Washington required
Experience or strong interest in pediatrics and pre-operative nursing
BLS certification required; PALS preferred
Previous pre-op or perioperative experience strongly preferred
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with families and multidisciplinary teams

Knowledge & Skills

Comfortable performing pediatric assessments and age-appropriate communication
Knowledge of pre-operative protocols, medication reconciliation, and patient safety
Skilled in vital sign monitoring and basic pediatric clinical interventions
Familiarity with EMR documentation and perioperative workflows
Attention to detail and infection control best practices
