Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit, prioritizing comfort and clinical outcomes
• Perform thorough assessments, document care, and communicate changes in patient condition to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments according to hospital policies and best practices
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans to support recovery
• Support unit flow by coordinating admissions, discharges, and transitions of care with efficiency and empathy

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure — Louisiana RN license preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and/or specialty certifications encouraged
• Clinical experience on a medical-surgical unit preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shift patterns and function effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — program completion required

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of medical-surgical nursing principles and common inpatient conditions
• Medication administration, IV therapy, and wound care proficiency
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation and charting
• Effective teamwork, time management, and prioritization skills
• Patient education and discharge planning capabilities
