Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care on 12-hour night shifts across medical and surgical units
• Float between Medical, Laulima (surgical acute) and occasional Cardiovascular units to meet patient care needs
• Perform and manage procedures such as wound vac care and chest tube management when required
• Document patient assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately in Meditech EMR
• Administer medications and manage controlled substances using Pyxis
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and transfers
• Maintain professional nursing standards and adhere to unit-specific orientation and training
• Adjust care plans to safely manage variable nurse-to-patient ratios typical of night shifts

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the State of Hawaii required by start of assignment
• BLS and ACLS certification required; PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC preferred
• 2-10 years of RN experience (medical-surgical and float experience preferred)
• Comfortable floating to multiple units and managing diverse patient populations
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and adapt to variable scheduling
• Demonstrated competence with Meditech EMR, Pyxis and common acute care equipment like wound vacs and chest tubes

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medical-surgical nursing knowledge and assessment skills
• Experience with Meditech electronic medical record systems
• Medication administration workflows and Pyxis operation
• Hands-on skills with wound vacs and chest tube care
• Ability to prioritize in fast-paced, shifting patient loads
• Good communication and teamwork across interdisciplinary staff
• Adaptability to float between units and learn unit-specific protocols
