Patient Care Technician

Location: Sacramento, CA

Start Date: 05-07-2026

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Flexible 4-hour shifts (exact start/end times vary by assignment), days vary (weekdays and weekends as needed), PCT/per diem-style schedule

Candidate Pay Rate: $25 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assist nursing staff with direct patient care tasks to ensure comfort and safety
Perform basic clinical tasks such as vital signs and patient mobility assistance
Support patient hygiene, feeding, and toileting needs with dignity
Communicate changes in patient condition to the nursing team promptly
Maintain clean, safe patient environments and follow infection control practices
Complete accurate documentation of care provided and assist with handoffs

Qualifications

Prior experience as a Patient Care Technician or CNA is a plus
Current PCT or CNA certification preferred where applicable
Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification preferred
Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment and collaborating with a care team
Strong communication skills and attention to detail

Education

High school diploma or GED required
PCT or CNA certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Basic clinical skills: taking vital signs, assisting with ADLs, safe patient handling
Familiarity with infection prevention and patient safety principles
Ability to follow care plans and escalate concerns appropriately
Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and teammates
Reliable documentation habits and basic electronic charting comfort
