Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist orthodontists during procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow and patient comfort
• Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain a clean, safe environment
• Take and develop dental X-rays as directed, following safety protocols
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care to promote healthy smiles
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with administrative tasks using dental software like Denticon
• Ensure all patients feel welcomed and cared for throughout their visit

Qualifications

• Active Dental Assistant certification or registration as required by Maryland state regulations
• Experience in orthodontic assisting, particularly with braces and aligner treatments
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Proficiency in taking dental radiographs (X-rays) with proper safety measures
• Familiarity with dental practice management software such as Denticon (preferred)
• A positive, patient-focused attitude and strong teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic instruments and sterilization techniques
• Understanding of dental anatomy and orthodontic procedures
• Skill in maintaining accurate patient documentation
• Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and team members
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
