Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain a clean, safe environment
- Take and develop dental X-rays as directed, following safety protocols
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care to promote healthy smiles
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with administrative tasks using dental software like Denticon
- Ensure all patients feel welcomed and cared for throughout their visit
Qualifications
- Active Dental Assistant certification or registration as required by Maryland state regulations
- Experience in orthodontic assisting, particularly with braces and aligner treatments
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Proficiency in taking dental radiographs (X-rays) with proper safety measures
- Familiarity with dental practice management software such as Denticon (preferred)
- A positive, patient-focused attitude and strong teamwork skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of orthodontic instruments and sterilization techniques
- Understanding of dental anatomy and orthodontic procedures
- Skill in maintaining accurate patient documentation
- Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and team members
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
