Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist orthodontists during patient examinations and orthodontic procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments to maintain a safe environment
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed
• Create and maintain accurate patient records and treatment plans
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and care for braces and aligners
• Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth patient flow and excellent care

Qualifications

• Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or state-licensed Dental Assistant as required in Maryland
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Radiography (X-ray) certification for dental settings
• Previous experience in orthodontics is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a friendly chairside manner
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and sterilization techniques
• Familiarity with orthodontic tools and materials (brackets, wires, retainers)
• Proficiency with dental practice management software
• Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities
• Attention to detail and infection control compliance
• Interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients of all ages
