Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during patient examinations and orthodontic procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments to maintain a safe environment
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed
- Create and maintain accurate patient records and treatment plans
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and care for braces and aligners
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth patient flow and excellent care
Qualifications
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or state-licensed Dental Assistant as required in Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Radiography (X-ray) certification for dental settings
- Previous experience in orthodontics is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a friendly chairside manner
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and sterilization techniques
- Familiarity with orthodontic tools and materials (brackets, wires, retainers)
- Proficiency with dental practice management software
- Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities
- Attention to detail and infection control compliance
- Interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients of all ages
