Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during a variety of procedures, keeping patients comfortable and confident
- Prepare treatment rooms and ensure all instruments are sterilized and ready for each appointment
- Take dental X-rays and impressions with precision and care
- Educate patients on post-treatment care and orthodontic hygiene
- Maintain accurate patient records and help keep the practice running smoothly
Qualifications
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or equivalent training is preferred
- Current X-ray certification (required in Maryland)
- Experience in orthodontics or a strong desire to learn
- A warm, patient-friendly approach and excellent communication skills
- CPR/BLS certification is a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization, and infection control
- Skill in taking intraoral X-rays and dental impressions
- Ability to explain orthodontic care to patients in plain language
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Team collaboration and the ability to anticipate doctor needs
