Roles & Responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs and patient history accurately to support clinical decisions
• Room patients and prepare them for exams, creating a calm, efficient experience
• Perform specimen collection including throat swabs, urine samples and venipuncture with proper labeling
• Administer injections and immunizations according to protocols
• Set up and assist with procedures and minor interventions to support providers
• Perform point-of-care testing such as blood glucose via glucometer and document results
• Manage telephone triage, pharmacy refill requests and follow-up phone calls with professionalism
• Chart patient encounters thoroughly in the required charting system to maintain clear records

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in an outpatient setting (as stated)
• Experience with electronic charting systems is required
• Competence with venipuncture, specimen collection and labeling
• Experience administering injections and immunizations
• Comfort with telephone triage and pharmacy call handling
• BLS certification preferred
• Ability to assist with minor procedures and basic office duties

Knowledge & Skills

• Vital signs, hearing and vision screening
• Specimen collection: throat swab, urine UA/clean catch, venipuncture
• Nebulizer treatments and administration of TB tests
• Injections and immunizations
• Blood glucose testing via glucometer and basic laboratory tests
• Charting, recording history, medications and allergies
• Telephone triage, pharmacy refill processing and follow-up calls
• Rooming patients, preparing exam rooms and assisting with procedures
• Suture removal and other basic outpatient skills
