Roles & Responsibilities

Deliver top-notch age-specific dental hygiene care to patients from infants to geriatrics, making a real difference in Southeast Alaska health
Educate patients on preventing oral disease, empowering them with home care and nutrition tips
Perform thorough oral tissue exams, periodontal therapy, coronal polishing, fluoride applications, and pocket measurements
Take precise x-rays and monitor vital signs like pulse, blood pressure, and temperature
Manage patient schedules smoothly and lead dental prevention activities at health fairs, sealant clinics, and Head Start programs
Maintain supplies and ensure instruments are sterilized for top safety standards

Qualifications

Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program, Bachelor's Degree preferred
Active Dental Hygiene License in Alaska or another U.S. state, Alaska license preferred
BLS certification required within 45 days of start
Clinical Competency within 3 months and every 3 years
High Risk Competency within 3 months and annually

Education

Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program
Bachelor's Degree preferred
High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in proper infection control techniques
Strong grasp of dental and periodontal disease principles and treatments
Skilled in clinical hygiene practices
Excellent oral and written communication
Precise clinical judgment
Superior hand dexterity for detailed work
