Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess adult patients before and after surgical procedures and adjust care as conditions change
• Administer medications safely and document responses in the computerized Plan of Care
• Monitor and trend vital signs, recognizing and responding quickly to clinical changes
• Initiate and maintain electronic documentation and individualized care plans on admission
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate optimal patient outcomes
• Provide compassionate, age- and culturally-appropriate care while protecting patient confidentiality
• Float to other qualified departments as needed to support hospital operations
• Participate in required education and quality programs to support accreditation and best practices

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the State of Oregon (required)
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (required)
• Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) preferred
• CRASE training preferred; required if assignment extends beyond 6 months
• Evidence of continuing education appropriate to skill level and practice area
• Previous medical-surgical nursing experience preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (required)
• BSN preferred
• MSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Medication administration and safe documentation practices
• Proficient in vital signs monitoring and recognizing trends
• Experience with perioperative and post-operative nursing care
• Comfortable with computerized Plan of Care and electronic documentation systems
• Excellent interdisciplinary collaboration and therapeutic communication skills
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing duties
