Respiratory Therapist - Pediatric
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Start Date: 08-13-2026
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per Diem - Rotating 12.5-hour shifts (days, nights, and weekends as needed)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $41 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate patients' respiratory status to provide optimal care
- Administer respiratory treatments and therapies with compassion and precision
- Manage and monitor mechanical ventilators to ensure patient safety
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the care team to develop individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care techniques and treatment plans
- Document patient responses to treatments and adjust therapies as needed
- Respond quickly to respiratory emergencies and help stabilize critical situations
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure readiness and safety
Qualifications
- Active Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Ohio (or eligibility to obtain)
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- PALS or NRP certification preferred, especially for pediatric care
- Previous experience in respiratory therapy, ideally in pediatrics or acute care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with patients and families
- Ability to work per diem and adapt to varying schedules and patient needs
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of respiratory therapy procedures, equipment, and protocols
- Knowledge of pediatric respiratory conditions and developmental considerations
- Patient assessment and critical thinking to make quick, informed decisions
- Excellent communication to educate and support families during care
- Time management and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation standards
