Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' respiratory status and develop personalized care plans
• Administer oxygen, aerosolized medications, and ventilator support as prescribed
• Monitor patient responses to therapy and adjust treatments in collaboration with the care team
• Perform diagnostic testing, including blood gas analysis and pulmonary function tests
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment, and home care strategies
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all respiratory equipment is clean and functioning

Qualifications

• Active Virginia Respiratory Therapist license or eligibility to obtain one
• CRT or RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
• Prior experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute or long-term care setting preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts, including weekends, and adapt to a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of respiratory therapy modalities, ventilation protocols, and patient monitoring
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Proficiency with electronic health records and basic medical software
• Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
