Location: Norfolk, VA

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Sunday-Saturday, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM (Day shift, 12-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' respiratory status and develop personalized care plans
- Administer oxygen, aerosolized medications, and ventilator support as prescribed
- Monitor patient responses to therapy and adjust treatments in collaboration with the care team
- Perform diagnostic testing, including blood gas analysis and pulmonary function tests
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment, and home care strategies
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all respiratory equipment is clean and functioning
Qualifications
- Active Virginia Respiratory Therapist license or eligibility to obtain one
- CRT or RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
- Prior experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute or long-term care setting preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts, including weekends, and adapt to a fast-paced environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of respiratory therapy modalities, ventilation protocols, and patient monitoring
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency with electronic health records and basic medical software
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
