Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to geriatric patients with behavioral health needs
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor vital signs, promptly identifying changes in condition
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Utilize de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe and calming environment
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered, documenting accurately in the electronic medical record
• Respond to rapid response calls and code blue situations with critical thinking and composure

Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state, or ability to obtain prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, ideally in behavioral health, geriatrics, or med-surg
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Caring, compassionate, and patient-centered approach
• Strong assessment skills, teamwork, and critical thinking abilities

Knowledge & Skills

• Behavioral health nursing principles and best practices
• Geriatric care and patient assessment skills
• Critical thinking and problem-solving in high-pressure situations
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (Cerner preferred)
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced unit
• Flexibility and de-escalation techniques to support patient safety
