Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
- Assess patient status, identify changes, and communicate them clearly to the care team
- Administer medications and treatments safely and according to policy
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members to support positive outcomes
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
- Document patient care accurately and timely in the medical record
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama or compact state eligibility preferred
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS or specialty certifications a plus
- Clinical experience or strong interest in medical-surgical nursing
- Solid critical thinking, clinical assessment, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred when available
Knowledge & Skills
- Medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
- Medication administration and IV therapy basics
- Patient assessment and documentation
- Team collaboration and handoff communication
- Prioritization, time management, and patient safety focus
