Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for labor and delivery patients across the full spectrum of care.
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring and respond to any changes promptly.
• Provide compassionate education and support to patients and their families during childbirth and postpartum.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and the healthcare team to ensure safe deliveries and optimal outcomes.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in accordance with organizational policies.
• Act as a patient advocate and ensure a safe, comfortable environment for mothers and newborns.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of recent high-volume Labor & Delivery experience (required)
• Active RN license in Maryland or a compact state (verification less than 30 days old)
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
• Willing to obtain EFM and NIHSS certifications within 48 hours if offered
• COVID-19 vaccination required - declinations not accepted
• Must be flexible with facility scheduling, including weekends and on-call
• 1 supervisory reference from the last 6 months and 1 from the last 12 months

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and care planning abilities
• Proficiency in electronic fetal monitoring (EFM)
• Knowledge of labor and delivery nursing best practices
• NIH Stroke Scale/Score (NIHSS) certification
• ACLS and BLS certified
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting
