Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care to stepdown/PCU patients with conditions like heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke
• Titrate critical drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro
• Interpret telemetry strips and monitor cardiac rhythms
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced 22-bed unit
• Assume charge nurse duties as needed, including a full patient assignment
• Participate in admission, discharge, and patient education

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa (or compact state)
• At least 2 years of recent stepdown/PCU experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Comfortable with EPIC charting system
• Driver's license required for radius verification
• No artificial nails allowed in patient care areas

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Strong telemetry interpretation skills
• Ability to manage high-acuity patients with heart failure, arrhythmias, and respiratory issues
• Proficiency with CPAP and other respiratory equipment
• Excellent teamwork and communication in a high-volume unit
