Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care to trauma, neuro-stroke, and post-surgical ICU patients in a fast-paced 30-bed unit
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips, recognizing dysrhythmias and responding promptly
• Titrate vasopressors and sedation drips to maintain hemodynamic stability
• Manage ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies, ensuring precise neuro-trauma care
• Collaborate with intensivists, charge nurses, and a 24/7 interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes
• Float to PCU, CICU, tele, or med-surg units as needed, adapting quickly to different patient populations
• Provide post-TPA care and early intervention for stroke patients when indicated

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-3 years of recent ICU experience (stronger candidates with larger facility experience preferred)
• Must have experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies (or post-TPA care if that experience is lacking)
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required; PALS is preferred (required if staying longer than 6 months)
• NIHSS certification is required
• Must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Test on day one (PASS/FAIL)
• Previous travel experience is preferred
• Comfortable working every other weekend and floating to other units
• Thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment and are open to asking questions or seeking help when needed
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team

Knowledge & Skills

• Expert critical care nursing skills with a focus on trauma and neuro ICU
• Proficient in telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia recognition, and strip reading
• Skilled in vasopressor and sedation titration
• Hands-on experience with ICP monitoring, ventriculostomy management, and post-TPA care
• Comfortable using Cerner EHR and GE telemetry systems
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to adapt quickly and stay organized in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
