Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform perioperative scrub duties in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) with precision and focus
• Assist the surgical team across neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations during CVOR procedures
• Prepare, maintain, and manage sterile instrumentation and supplies for cardiovascular cases
• Function independently within established protocols to support efficient, safe surgical care
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with RNs, surgeons, and the perioperative team to ensure patient safety
• Maintain patient confidentiality and exercise sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy in all interactions

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (required for hires post-2009)
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist, with required Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) specialty experience
• BCLS certification required
• National certification preferred (NBSTSA - CST, NCCT - TS-C, or AST credentials accepted)
• Ability to function independently and accept on-call responsibilities
• Proficient computer and keyboarding skills

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (required for hires post-2009)

Knowledge & Skills

• Scrub technique and perioperative skills across all age groups (neonate through geriatric)
• Competence in unit tasks assigned by the RN and the ability to prioritize in the OR
• Strong judgment, tact, and patient confidentiality practices
• Proficient computer/keyboarding skills for documentation and unit workflows
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced CVOR environment
