Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality acute and progressive care to PCU patients, using strong critical thinking to prioritize care
• Assess, monitor, and document patient status using Cerner to ensure safe transitions and continuity of care
• Initiate and participate in care plans, medication administration, and evidence-based interventions
• Respond swiftly to patient deterioration and emergencies, applying ACLS and BLS protocols when needed
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and unit staff to maintain safe patient ratios and efficient workflow
• Support unit culture by mentoring teammates, communicating clearly, and contributing to a positive work environment

Qualifications

• RN (Registered Nurse) — clinical experience in PCU/ICU settings preferred
• Minimum 2+ years of recent acute care nursing experience (explicit requirement)
• Current BLS certification (must have)
• ACLS certification (advanced skill needed)
• Experience with Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
• Comfort working in units with typical patient ratios (example: 1:5 day, 1:6 night) and collaborating with unit secretaries and PCTs

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and clinical decision-making for acute care patients
• Proficiency with Cerner documentation and electronic charting
• Familiarity with PCU/ICU workflows, monitoring equipment, and escalation protocols
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Ability to manage time and prioritize across multiple patients and tasks
