Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care on a Med/Surg unit, ensuring safety and dignity for every patient
• Assess patient conditions, implement nursing interventions, and evaluate outcomes to support recovery
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team members to create and follow individualized care plans
• Document patient status, treatments, and progress accurately in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans in an approachable way
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns to appropriate providers

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Louisiana license preferred (or valid compact license where applicable)
• Experience or comfort working in Med/Surg nursing and 12-hour shift environments
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications based on facility requirements
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary care team and prioritize patient safety

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of Med/Surg nursing principles and common medical/surgical conditions
• Proficiency with patient assessment, medication administration, and clinical documentation
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate charting practices
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, plus the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Time management and organization to handle multiple patients and competing priorities
